Rev. Dr. Canon Philip Tse

Associate Priest

Rev. Dr. Philip Tse grew up in Hong Kong and worked as a civil engineer in Canada for over twenty years. He received his call to ministry in 1984 and subsequently studied theology at Shiloh Bible College, the American Baptist Seminary, and Carey Theological College, earning a Master of Theology, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry, respectively. In 2007, he earned a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Pastoral Counseling from Argosy University / American School of Professional Psychology in the United States.

Rev. Tse began his pastoral ministry in 1990, serving churches in California, USA, and Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. In 2006, he responded to a special calling from God and became a chaplain at Richmond Hospital. In 2009, he completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) through the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). He later obtained certification as a Certified Spiritual Care Specialist by CASC and became a Board Certified Chaplain in the U.S. In 2017, he earned the CASC qualification of Spiritual Care Teaching Supervisor (Educator).

Currently, he serves full-time as a Spiritual Care Teaching Supervisor at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.

In the field of counseling, Rev. Tse became a Clinical Fellow in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2007 (recognized in North America) and a Registered Clinical Counselor in Canada in 2009. In addition to his full-time chaplaincy supervision, he continues to engage in counseling and teaching.

Rev. Tse and his wife, Mrs. Eva Wah, have a son and a daughter, both now grown.
